A 20th century ornamental carved wooden comb from the Jimini people (related peoples of the Senufo) of Côte d’Ivoire. This combs features a hybrid water buffalo and human figure embellished with abstract geometric detailing. Combs with handles decorated with animals or human figures can represent the wearer’s status.
