A 20th century carved wooden Ethiopian headrest (pillow). This work features a conical base and a concave rest embellished with incised geometric delineations. Headrests were carried by farmers and bushman and used to protect and preserve intricate hairstyles.

Condition

- dust, debris, and abrasions to surface; cracking, chipping, and scratches to wood; fair amount of hair butter residue present; headrest is slightly unstable; crack to base; hole to top.
