This American artist, trained and working in Japan, uses traditional Japanese paper materials, including making traditional Japanese paper. This artist uses gold ink and also calligraphy in the Japanese tradition to transform an ancient art form and bring it into a contemporary style on this piece. The artist signed her work in the lower right-hand corner. The matting is black. This piece is professionally matted and framed in wood that has been painted a gold tone. The framing was also done at a Japanese fine art gallery and has a solid wood back. This art dates in the late 1990s.
