Item Details
A 13.75’ tall Hummel ‘Call To Worship’ clock, HUM 441. It is the third edition in the Century Collection and was issued in 1988. It is a closed edition. These special issues are not produced beyond the year of release. Their special back stamp (see photos) exemplifies that.
The sketch art of Sister Maria Innocentia Hummel, OSF, began to appear in the 1930s in Germany and Switzerland. Hummel’s ‘art cards’ became popular throughout Germany, catching the eye of Franz Goebel, porcelain maker. Goebel acquired rights to turn Hummel’s drawing into figurines, producing the first line in 1935. The base for the popularity was among German immigrants on the East Coast of the U.S., first being transported to this country by American men in the armed forces. *Cited from website.
