Photographer and director Bil Zelman is known for his stylized, candid portraits and his black and white street photography, a collection of which is featured in his book Isolated Gesture, published in 2013. Compared to the likes of Garry Winogrand, Larry Fink, Diane Arbus and William Klein, his work has been sought after by a number of celebrities such as John Legend, Ozzy Osbourne, Kristen Wiig, Louis C.K., Jerry Seinfeld, Werner Herzog, and Judd Apatow, to name a few. Mulitiple institutions have collected and exhibited his work, including the Portland Museum of Art, the Museum of Photographic Arts in San Diego, and the Center of Fine Art Photography in Fort Collins, among others.
