James Monroe, 5th President, signed deed document from the General Land Office granting Samuel Quimby a purchase of land, lot 406 in the town of Perrysville, Ohio. The vellum document features the countersignature of George Graham as Commissioner of the General Land Office. August 4, 1824. DS, 1 page. JSA Authentication.

John Quincy Adams, 6th President, signed letter to landscape designer, horticulturalist, and writer Andrew Jackson Downing. Adams praises Downing’s most recent publication and updates him on his garden planting, ’…Your treatise on fruit, and the fruit trees of America, I think one of the most useful publications of our Age, and Country.” The letter is accompanied by an engraved portrait of Adams along with a facsimile signature. The engraving was done by G. Parker after a painting by Edward Dalton Marchant. November 7, 1845. LS, 1 page. JSA Authentication. Ex. RR Auction.

Andrew Jackson, 7th President, autograph note signed forwarding a confidential letter to James K. Polk, the future 11th President of the United States. The note reads in full, “Confidential letter enclosed to Col. Polk, and after reading them observed to me, I understand all that—and you may rest assured that he will not be governed by any clique, nor any favours bestowed upon relations, A.J.” The note is accompanied by an original steel engraving portrait of Jackson.
