A first edition of Reports of Experiments on the Strength and Other Properties of Metals for Cannon with a hand-written letter regarding the book. This volume features a blind-stamped cover, gilt lettering and design to the spine and hand-sewn text blocks. A hand-written letter dated June 30, 1856, signed William Wade, was written to Eaton Hodgkinson. Mr. Wade’s name is affixed to many of the reports covered in this book. It was presented to Hodgkinson due to the repect Mr. Wade had for Hogkinson’s work with stuctural designs and similiar interests. The letter is attached by cord to the front.
