An unpublished English language typewritten manuscript of Wings Into Memory, a memoir by German World War Two Stuka dive-bomber ace Werner P. Roell (1914-2008). A recipient of the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross, Roell saw action in the skies over France, Norway, Yugoslavia, Crete, and Russia. The memoir was published in German as Flug in die Erinnerung but seems to have never gotten an English language publication. A hand-written note by Roell is laid into the front of the volume, asking an American friend to help him published an English version in America, along with the response in which the friend says he is unable to help. A summary of the book and a “curriculum vitae” of Roell’s life are also laid in at the front of the volume, which is bound in a vinyl softcover.
