Paul St. Gaudens was the son of Louis Saint Gaudens and Annetta Johnson Saint-Gaudens (1869-1943), an artist and sculptor working at the Orchard Kiln Pottery. He studied in Paris at the Julian Academy and the Grande Chaumiere. He later studied at the the British Academy and the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The family home, the Louis St. Gaudens Home and Studio, is on the National Register of Historic Places in Cornish, New Hampshire.
