Marlene Steele is a Kentucky-born, Cincinnati-based artist with a degree from the Art Academy of Cincinnati. Working in various mediums, Steele is known for her oil paintings and pastel drawings but also for her calligraphy skills. She founded the Calligraphy Guild in 1980, was a signature member in the Cincinnati Art Club, and also works as a courtroom illustrator. Steele currently owns Steele Studios and continues her practice by regularly exhibiting.
Deaccessioned from the Art Academy of Cincinnati’s Collection. Proceeds to benefit future student programs. Founded in 1869, The Art Academy of Cincinnati is celebrating their 150th anniversary this year through the sale of limited works in the Collection.
