Frederick Coffay Yohn worked predominantly as an illustrator, and his work was published in Scribner’s Magazine, Harper’s Magazine, Collier’s Weekly, and several novels. Known for his detailed military and historical scenes, his work is influenced by Henry Siddons Mowbray whom he studied under at the Art Students League of New York. His work depicting George Rogers Clark’s victory over the British at Fort Sackville was featured on the 1929 two-cent U.S. Postal Service stamp and the original painting is now in the collection of the Indiana Historical Bureau.
