Influenced by German Expressionism and graffiti elements, Keil is known for his simplified abstractions of traditional art subjects. He studied under Otto Nagel at a young age and developed relationships with other renowned artists such as Joan Miró. As Keil abandoned realism and developed his signature style, he used more vibrant colors rapidly applied with large gestural brushstrokes resembling the abstract style of Picasso.

Condition

- uneven discoloration to varnish over painting particularly to the corners; painting is too tall for the frame and the lower half of painting does not sit flush with the sight edge; chips and abrasions throughout the molding of the frame particularly to the corners; tape to the verso of frame.
