Signed Limited First Edition "The Three Musketeers of the Air" 1928
Item Details
A 1928 vintage copy of The Three Musketeers of the Air: Their Conquest of the Atlantic from East to West by German aviators Capt. Hermann Koehl and Baron Guenther von Huenefeld and Irish aviator Maj. James Fitzmaurice. They were the first aviators to cross the Atlantic from east to west in a fixed-wing aircraft, accomplishing the feat one year after Charles Lindbergh’s famous west to east crossing of 1927. The east to west crossing is more difficult as it is against the prevailing winds. This is a stated signed limited first edition by G.P. Putnam’s Sons and Knickerbocker Press, numbered 40/260, and signed by all three men to the edition page. It is bound in a red/pink cloth and paperboard hardcover with deckle page edges and gilt spine lettering.
