Kay Muir earned a degree in art and design at the University of Michigan where she focused on costume and set design working with noted choreographer Martha Graham. Her work, however, is mainly influenced by her later studies at the Art Academy of Cincinnati, where she studied color theory from Josef Albers, also working with Paul Chidlaw and Arthur Helwig. Her work has been displayed in numerous exhibitions and is part of the permanent collections of the Art Academy of Cincinnati and the Dayton Art Institute.

Deaccessioned from the Art Academy of Cincinnati’s Collection. Proceeds to benefit future student programs. Founded in 1869, The Art Academy of Cincinnati is celebrating their 150th anniversary this year through the sale of limited works in the Collection.

- minor wear to edges of frame; surface wear present to painting; stretcher frame visible through canvas; minor billow to canvas.
