Important Update on IRS 1099-K Reporting Requirements

IRS 1099-K Reporting Requirements

What’s Changing?

Due to the recently passed One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB), the IRS has raised the threshold for when online platforms like Everything But The House will issue Form 1099-K to sellers.

Effective in 2025, the reporting threshold has been increased to the following level:

• $20,000 in total sales and 200 or more transactions in a year

This change is retroactive to 2022 and applies moving forward.

What This Means for Sellers

If you’ve received a 1099-K in past years but your 2025 sales don’t exceed $20,000 AND 200 transactions, you will no longer receive one.

EBTH will no longer request IRS forms (like a W-9) from sellers who fall below the threshold.

If you do exceed the threshold, you’ll still receive a 1099-K showing your total gross payments for the year.

Reminder: this is not your taxable income—your costs and expenses may reduce your actual taxable amount.
